Atalanta defeated Pescara 2-1 at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia in Serie A lunchtime action Sunday.

The visitors surpirsingly went ahead on 24 minutes courtesy of a Gaetano D’Agositno screamer, but a second half double from German Denis lifted the hosts to a come-from-behind victory .

The first half featured few chances, but each side was nonetheless able to grab a goal on the near side of halftime.

The Delfini were yet to have a shot on target when they broke the deadlock, but his side’s previous impotence didn’t not stop D’Agostino from unleashing a rocket from the edge of the area that flew into the upper left hand corner, giving Andrea Consigli no chance.

The hosts equalised soon after from the penalty spot, as Denis sent former Atalanta man Ivan Pelizzoli the wrong way after Damanio Zanon had cut down Giacomo Bonaventura in the area.

The Orobici started out the second period looking the more likely to break the deadlock, with Stephano Lucchini, Denis, and Bonaventura all going for goal from a variety of positions.

On 67 minutes, their efforts were rewarded as they found themselves on top after Denis smashed home from the centre of the box following a swift counter attack.

Mervan Celik’s effort from distance was desperately headed away by Cristian Raimondi, whilst Emmanuel Cascione went just over the bar from a promising position.

Ante Vukusic tried his hand from distance as the clock continued to near full time, but to no avail.

The Delfini ultimately failed to muster a response, despite an ample five minutes of stoppages, falling to a league-leading 19th defeat on the campaign.
