Genoa coach Davide Ballardini believes his side are set to give Roma one of their toughest games of the season, he said ahead of tomorrow’s game.

The Grifoni are unbeaten since he took the helm at the club, having picked up two draws and three wins and will meet a Roma side who have found their feet again under Aurelio Andreazzoli.

“It will be a very difficult game against Roma but they are motivated, have a great coach and we will need a great performance but we are also motivated,” said Ballardini.

“The crowd and the atmosphere at the Olimpico could of course be a factor but I’m sure we will give Roma a real game.”

The ex-Lazio boss is also wary of the threat of a Francesco Totti closing in on another goalscoring record but hopes his old Giallorossi players will be out to down their former team.

He stated: “We know that Totti wants to score and try to equal Gunnar Nordahl’s record and is a great champion so we will have to be wary of him but I am confident that our former Roma players will be out to prove themselves in this game.”

Andreas Granqvist and Francelino Matuzalem are both suspended while Antonio Floro Flores, Bosko Jankovic, Marco Rossi, Thomas Manfredini and Ruben Oliveira are all sidelined through injury.

However, Andrea Bertolacci, Juan Manuel Vargas and Mattia Cassani have recovered from injuries and are all fit to play.
