Bologna bested Cagliari with a convincing 3-0 win at the Dall’Ara in Serie A on Sunday afternoon.

First half goals from Saphir Taider and Alessandro Diamanti secured the victory for Bologna, their second on the bounce while Cagliari Francesco Pisano ejected before Cristian Pasquato grabbed a third in injury time.

It did not take them long to hit the front and they were ahead after just five minutes when Taider played a clever one-two with Alberto Gilardino and collected the return before slotting home for his second goal of the season.

Davide Astori was then on hand to deny Gilardino getting on the score sheet himself with a timely intervention to turn his drive away but just two minutes afterwards, the Isolani found themselves further behind.

The ever dangerous Gila collected the ball in the final third and teed up Diamanti who lashed a superb strike past Michael Agazzi from a difficult angle and keep up his rich vein of form.

Marco Sau at the other end had a decent effort from the left well saved by Gianluca Curci although in truth, the Rossoblu mustered very little as an attacking force.

At the start of the second half, Bologna almost made it three when Manolo Gabbiadini fired at goal after a good exchange with Diamanti but Agazzi was equal to the effort.

Then the game was all but finished after 10 minutes of play when Pisano was shown a straight red card for a two-footed challenge on Archimede Morleo, deservedly being shown his marching orders.

Frederik Sorensen and Mauricio Pinilla had further chances towards the end for each side before Bologna made it 3-0 in the last minute with another wonderful strike by firing home from outside the penalty area.
