Liverpool midfielder and ex-Inter man Philippe Coutinho has discussed his former club and says that it did not work out as he had hoped in Italy.

He has become an instant hit on Merseyside following his January transfer but the Brazilian also hinted that he may not have been helped by the heavy expectations placed on his shoulders.

Speaking with Liverpool’s official website, he said: “My career has been positive so far and I have already got some experience even though I am still young.

“I do not know anything about football yet – I am still learning but in Italy football is played more like here and I think that has helped me.

“Every player dreams of playing in Europe and it was the same with me. I was bought by Inter when I was 16 and although I was very young, I have no regrets.

“When I first arrived they had great expectations but I think that is normal in football these days and unfortunately it did not work there but I am very happy to be here.”

The 20-year-old joined the Reds from the Nerazzurri for a fee in the region of £9m.
