Inter striker Diego Milito’s knee injury may leave him out for at least six months, but the player is still receiving tons of support and affection from his fans.

The injury, which was revealed to be damage to ligaments and a tendon in his left knee, occurred during the Nerazzurri’s February 14 Europa League match against CFR Cluj.

The 33-year-old star talked to Inter Channel about how grateful he is for the continued support, as well as the strength it’s given him as he continues his recovery.

“First of all, I would like to thank the fans, as they are marvellous,” said the Argentine international.

“The affection of the people has been the greatest thing for me. The first few days after the injury were very hard and all this affection gave me incredible strength.”

“It is also for them that I want to get back to my best. I have this objective in my head and will try to be at my best again so I can repay all these wonderful people.”

Milito then revealed the progress that he’s been making and how anxious he is to return to the pitch.

“I am doing well now and started the recuperation process. Thankfully the knee is responding to all the exercises and we are on the right track.”

“I do miss playing with the football. If all goes well, I hope that I can be in the pre-season training camp with the team.”

“I’m spending a lot of time at home with my family, especially on weekends. I like staying home and do a few exercises or ice baths there to help the recuperation process.”
