Roma captain Francesco Totti refused to get dragged into talks of a possible return to the Italian national side for FIFA World Cup 2014.

Italy boss Cesare Prandelli however mentioned that Totti’s form is good enough to earn him a recall to play for his country.

The 36 year old Roma captain refuses to look too far into the future and wrote on his official website: “Compliments are always nice to receive and at this time I’m really getting a lot from coaches, colleagues and many people who live and work in football,”.

“I want to thank everyone and Coach Prandelli too because his words are certainly an incentive to do well.

“Of course, as it should be, I now live 90 minutes at a time, game after game, I focus on the present and right now I’m thinking about the challenge of Palermo.

“I can’t wait to again take to the field with my teammates to continue this positive streak of results. I feel full of enthusiasm.”

Totti brought a stop to his international career after Italy won the World Cup in 2006. He has nine goals in 58 caps. He was also named in the FIFA 100,  a list of the 125 greatest living footballers selected by Pele as a part of FIFA’s  centenary celebrations.
