Brazilian defender Dede will not be joining AC Milan this summer from Vasco de Gama.

Dede, capped seven times by Brazil, has agreed to remain in his home land and has signed a deal with Cruzeiro.

The 24-year-old had been linked with the Rossoneri in recent weeks and they looked set to compete with Liverpool for the player’s signature.

His decision to stay in Brazil has been viewed as a surprising one as a host of big European clubs including Chelsea and Manchester United have also been linked with the stopper at various stages in the last 12 months.

The central defender made 103 appearances for Vasco.
