Inter forward Antonio Cassano could potentially miss the rest of the season after he was diagnosed with a grade two hamstring tear.

Cassano limped off in the 32nd minute of the Nerazzurri’s 4-3 loss to Atalanta on Sunday evening. He initially tried to continue playing after sustaining the injury, but could not continue and was substituted by Ricardo Alvarez.

Tests were conducted on Monday and revealed that the injury will force him to the sidelines for “30 to 40 days”.

The injury leaves coach Andrea Stramaccioni with limited attacking options as  Diego Milito and Rodrigo Palacio are already out with long-term injuries.

With Cassano now possibly out for the remainder of the season, the burden of the Inter attack will not fall on the shoulders of Tommaso Rocchi who will likely be joined by Primavera players.
