Siena defeated Pescara 3-2 at the Stadio Atriatico on Saturday in a key Serie A relegation battle.

Angelo’s header in the 14th minute and a Damiano Zanon own goal got things going for the Bianconeri before Mervan Celik and Romulo Togni scored to level the game. Innocent Emeghara struck late to secure all three points for the visitors.

The game started with Siena pressuring the Pescara net. Siena got a chance off that early possession through Claudio Terzi. Felipe fed him with a cross to his head, but the attempt from close range was saved brilliantly by Ivan Pelizzoli in the top corner.

A few moments later, the Robur found the opening goal. After some commotion in the penalty area with the ball bouncing all over the place, Angelo pulled off a diving header and scored.

On 26 minutes, Per Kroldrup released a header from point blank range and appeared to have the tying goal, but Gianluca Pegolo pulled off a similar save to Pelizzoli’s earlier in the match to keep the scoreline at 1-0.

That would come back to hurt Pescara as they would catch an unlucky break off a defensive corner. The cross bounced off of Zanon and rolled over the line to make it 2-0 for the visitors.

The Delfini cut the deficit in half at the start of the second interval when Celik powered his attempt into the top right corner from the centre of the box.

A little under seven minutes later, they leveled things up. Togni’s free kick from 20 metres found the top left corner, giving Pegolo no chance at stopping it.

Siena almost nicked one off a Nicola Pozzi header, but Pelizzoli made another marvelous save in the bottom right corner to keep things tied at two.

With five minutes to go, Siena pulled ahead again. Emeghara latched onto an Agra pass off a fast break and calmly finished to give his side the 3-2 victory.
