Despite their relegation to Serie B being almost assured, Pescara are looking to strengthen their team for the campaign to regain their top-flight status with Napoli’s Roberto Insigne.

Delfini president Daniel Sebastiani is working with Napoli counterpart Aurelio De Laurentiis, revealed after the Partonopei’s 3-0 victory against the Biancazzurri at the weekend.

One of the more interesting names floated in their conversation was Roberto Insigne, the younger brother of Lorenzo, who himself spent last season on loan at Pescara.

Sebastiani gave an upbeat interview with Radio Kiss Kiss, of Naples, suggesting that the younger Insigne, “could be one of those guys who could come into play for a major championship like Serie B,” just as Lorenzo, who scored 18 goals in Pescara’s promotion campaign last season, did, before adding that Pescara and Napoli have a “great relationship”.

He did indicate that the Delfini’s highly-rated goalkeeper Ivan Pelizzoli was not discussed in the meeting between the two, and that he would be between the posts for the campaign in Serie B that the team will be embarking upon.

Other players brought up in the interview were less likely to be turning out in the light-blue shirts next season, with neither Vladimir Weiss and Juan Fernando Quintero seeing their services extended at the lower tier.

Pescara’s relegation will be confirmed if they fail to win all of their four remaining games, starting next weekend at Genoa, and they will fall into a Serie B that will operate with a revolutionary salary cap for the first time.
