Roma’s 35-year-old midfielder Simone Perrotta is hoping to extend his current club deal until 2014 and is expecting to meet with club officials at the end of the season.

Perrotta signed for Roma in 2004 from Chievo Verona for €7.2 million and has made 240 appearances for the Giallorossi since his arrival. Despite playing a smaller role with the club over the last two seasons, Perrotta has continued to play an important part with the club.

Despite Zenek Zeman’s attempts to sell him last summer, the ex-Juventus player has re-emerged under new coach Aurelio Andeazzoli as both a starter and late-game substitute. Perrotta has notched two goals this season for Roma in 12 matches.

The midfielder was a key member of the Italy national team during the 2006 World Cup, and played in all seven of Marcelo Lippi’s team’s games on the way to the FIFA World Cup Trophy.
