Francesco Guidolin praised the contribution of Luis Muriel, after a brace on Sunday afternoon helped his Udinese side defeat Parma 3-0 at the Ennio Tardini.

The Colombian, who turns 22 on Thursday, has now scored eight times in just 17 Serie A appearances this term.

In the absence of talismanic striker Antonio Di Natale, the Bianconeri coach was quick to stress the importance that the experienced members of the Zebrette have around youngsters such as Muriel.

“Today he [Muriel] played like a champion, but he must give continuity to the [team] performance. The gaze of fans and large clubs is impossible to deflect away from this guy”, Guidolin told Rai Sports.

“Without Toto so far we have not done much away from home, but today we played great football for an hour and controlled the rest of the game.

“The general attitude on the field was good, excellent young people, and a special mention for older players, those like Domizzi, Danilo, and Lazzari, who lead this group with great skill and experience.

“Unfortunately, when we were lower in the table the work rate was not so good, but giving the best of ourselves as we now do, makes such a difference.”
