The once highly sought after Italian striker Robert Acquafresca has stated his happiness with playing in Spain’s La Liga, however, he is unsure where he will play next season.

Acquafresca is co-owned by Genoa and Bologna, two teams that face off on Sunday, and there is currently very little space in either team for the one time Torino youth team product.

But despite neither team being outwardly eager to bring the striker back, his current team Levante have not expressed a desire to sign him permanently either.

“In Spain I was fine, it is a decision that I would do again even though I have no problem returning to Italy,” Acquafresca admitted.

“Where will I play next season? I do not know. Genoa and Bologna will meet and come to an agreement. They face off Sunday and it can be an opportunity to talk about it. ”

The striker joined the Spanish side in January after falling out of favour with Bologna thanks to last summer’s arrival of Alberto Gilardino. In 13 matches with Levante, Acquafresca tallied two goals.

For much of the last five seasons Acquafresca has been loaned out to various clubs including Atalanta, Cagliari and Bologna. Though he is co-owned by Genoa, the 25-year-old has played a mere 10 times, scoring twice.

“From Bologna I left because the coach had decided to focus on Gilardino and I needed to play with continuity,” Acquafresca added.

“I do not think the situation has changed. Genoa was was strange adventure, I arrived in January after Atalanta, I got hurt and played little.

“I’d go back, I still have an open account, because I have not had a chance to prove my worth. ”

Since becoming a professional in 2005 with Inter, Acquafresca has played for 11 different clubs. His best season came in 2008/09 while on loan at Cagliari when he scored 14 goals in 36 matches.
