The Supercoppa Italiana may be contested in the United States for the first time in 10 years this upcoming August, although a date is yet to be decided upon.

The match, played between the league and cup winners of Italy, has been played in Beijing for the past four installments and was thought to be hosting it for a fifth consecutive season.

However, according to Il Tempo, league authorities are looking into the possibility of holding the one-off match in the United States, specifically at MetLife Stadium, located just outside New York City.

The stadium previously hosted the match in 2003 when Juventus defeated AC Milan 5-3 on penalties after the match remained tied at one apiece.

In this year’s edition Juventus as league winners will play the winner of the Coppa Italia, either Roma or Lazio.

The Supercoppa is tentatively scheduled to be played sometime between August 10 and 14.
