Former Arsenal man Mathieu Flamini has given his thanks to goalkeeper Christian Abbiati for his excellent work in keeping AC Milan’s Champions League qualification hopes alive.

The Rossoneri surged four points clear of fourth placed Fiorentina after a 1-0 win over Torino at San Siro.

Abbiati was crucial in keeping the clean sheet, with a number of quality saves denying the Viola front line from capitalizing on their chances.

“Abbiati made the difference with his saves,” Flamini told the press.

“It was extraordinary stuff, he’s a great keeper.

“It was important to win to get some distance on Fiorentina. Torino closed up very well and defended well. It was tough to get the goal.”

Mario Balotelli’s late strike was enough to give Milan the three points necessary to solidify their Champions League qualification place.
