Former AC Milan and Manchester United midfielder David Beckham has decided to retire from football at the end of the season.

The 38-year-old brings to end a glittering career in which he won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the Champions League with United, before moving to Real Madrid and adding La Liga to his collection.

“If you had told me as a young boy I would have played for and won trophies with my boyhood club Manchester United, proudly captained and played for my country over one hundred times and lined up for some of the biggest clubs in the world, I would have told you it was a fantasy,” Beckham said. “I’m fortunate to have realized those dreams.”

After his time in Spain he surprisingly moved to the USA with LA Galaxy where he won two MLS Cups, before ending his career in France with PSG, where he added the Ligue 1 championship to his list of honours this season.

“I’m thankful to PSG. for giving me the opportunity to continue, but I feel now is the right time to finish my career, playing at the highest level,” he concluded.

It was during his time in LA that he made two controversial loan moves to AC Milan.

The Rossoneri also posted a message on their official website wishing Beckham good luck for the future.
