Juventus claimed their 29th Scudetto following a 1-0 victory against Palermo at the Juventus Stadium on Sunday.

An Arturo Vidal penalty was enough to see the Bianconeri win their second consecutive league title at home, however Paul Pogba was sent off after spitting at Salvatore Aronica.

The opening minutes were controlled by Juventus, but Palermo maintained a strong defensive line to keep the hosts at bay through the beginning of the match.

That didn’t stop Juve from recording a couple of chances on 12 and 15 minutes, though. Vidal had the Bianconeri’s first shot of the game, blasting it wide right. Pogba tried from distance as well, it ended up just missing to the left.

The home side continued to mount the pressure and eventually got an opportunity inside the Rosanero penalty area. Stephan Lichtsteiner played in Mirko Vucinic with a through ball, however Stefano Sorrentino came out quickly and stopped Vucinic.

Josip Ilicic finally got the visitors’ first attempt in the 39th minute, but it was well wide of the net.

After the restart, Palermo were the side that caused a ruckus with Fabrizio Miccoli’s effort from the right side of Juve’s box hitting the post.

Things went sour for the Sicilians pretty quickly when Massimo Donati was deemed to have pushed Vucinic from behind in his own area. The referee had no choice but to award Juve with a penalty which Vidal took. He calmly slid it into the bottom left corner, sending Sorrentino the other way to open the scoring.

Giorgio Chiellini nearly doubled the advantage just after the hour mark with a header from a Vidal cross, but it was flashed just wide.

The only downfall of the game ended up being Pogba’s red card. He headed for an early shower after he deemed to have spat in the face of Aronica following a duel for the ball.
