Manchester City are preparing to increase their bid for AS Roma starlet Erik Lamela after an offer of £18 million was rejected.

Last week reports in Italy claimed that the Giallorossi turned down a bid in the region of £18m for the Argentine and now the Daily Express are suggesting that Manchester City are willing to up their offer.

The 22-year-old has been a revelation this season, scoring 15 times in 31 appearances.

He has also caught the eye for his versatility having played a variety of different attacking roles.

Lamela is under contract until 2016 and is in negotiations for an extension to his current deal which makes any move away from the Stadio Olimpico unlikely at present.

City’s Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with Lamela recently.
