Luca Cigarini has informed his current club Atalanta that he wants to stay in Bergamo after this season.

The midfielder is on loan, in his second spell with La Dea, and is expected to return to his parent club Napoli this summer.

However, Cigarini has told Atalanta that he would like to continue his stay for the near future.

“I hope that the club takes an important step forward for me,” Cigarini said.

“I’d like them to take up the option they have for me, because it is my desire to remain here at Atalanta.”

The Bergamo outfit have a buy-option on the playmaker and could make him a permanent member of the squad.

In the past two season with the club, Cigarini has played 59 times, scoring three goals and adding six assists.

The Italian midfielder came through the Parma youth team before moving to Atalanta the first time. He went on to Napoli were he featured 29 times, but Cigarini has spent much of the last few seasons on loan with La Liga side Sevilla prior to his time at Atalanta.
