Udinese striker Luis Muriel insists that everyone doubted them at the beginning of the season; nevertheless, the team has silenced the doubters after finishing fifth in Serie A this season
The Friuli based club collected maximum points from their last eight matches – and, not only did they set a new club record of consecutive wins, but also steered themselves to Europa League qualification.
“Nobody believed in us, but in the end our hard work paid off and we recovered those points we had lost at the start of the campaign.” Muriel told the Corriere dello Sport.
Muriel was one of the important players for the Zebrette in their late European pursuit, scoring 11 times in 22 matches, and Colombian forward is all motivated for next campaign.
“I am happy that we succeeded in this great achievement, so of course we hope to do even better next season,”
Udinese could not make out of the Champions League play-offs this season, after being defeated by Braga on penalties.
