Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has lashed out at the Italian media, claiming that there is still no deal in place with Rafa Benitez to take over the coaching job at the Partenopei.
His fiery reaction comes the same day where news broke that Benitez had signed a two-year contract to take charge of the club.
“There’s always this desire to break news at all costs in this country,” said De Laurentiis.
“I only said that I’m signing a new coach. It could be Benitez, it could be Pellegrini, or it could be someone else!”
Despite his remarks, Napoli are expected to announce the arrival of Benitez as part of a massive coaching shuffle among the bigger squads in Serie A that should see Roma, Inter, Milan and Napoli change their leading man before the beginning of the new season.
