Daniele Bonera - AC MilanAC Milan defender Daniele Bonera has expressed his happiness that he will be working with Massimiliano Allegri again next season after Milan confirmed him as coach on Sunday.

Allegri’s future was very much in doubt with a move to the Capital imminent, but after a sit down meeting with club owner Silvio Berlusconi, it appears that the Diavolo boss has found faith in Allegri, extending his contract till June 2014.

“Obviously I am very happy with the final decision to stick with Allegri,” Bonera told Milan Channel.

“I can only base my ideas on the great experience of president Silvio Berlusconi and of vice-president Adriano Galliani because both have never put a foot wrong in these last 30 years.

“These are choices made by the club, but if I have to give you my own personal opinion then I am happy with the decision made and I am sure they had their reasons to make the decision they did.”

Bonera’s future was also very much in doubt after his contract was set to expire this month, however he recently put pen to paper and signed a new deal to extend his stay at Milan until 2015.

“There was every chance that I would keep playing here, but all I wanted first was to have a quick chat with Galliani.

“When that happened he understood that I wanted to stay and I knew that they wanted me to stay. The two-year contract isn’t really a surprise.”

He continued: “I think that Galliani gave me two years because he thinks I am a good influence in the dressing room although obviously my priority is to continue playing for a little while longer.”

Bonera only made 13 league appearance last season, but the club feel there is much more for the 32-year-old to give at the club.
