Cagliari - Is ArenasCagliari’s plans to begin next season at the Stadio Is Arenas have gained momentum after the club submitted a revised plan to the commission board.

The Isolani have been without a permanent home since the closure of their historic Stadio Sant’Elia due to safety reasons in early 2012.

According to news agency ANSA, this final draft of plans should see the plans referred to the Board of Supervisors. Cagliari have a deadline of 30th June to confirm they will be playing at the stadium next season, so the process is hoped to be as rapid as possible.

The club were recently told they would have to amend the use of Via Olimpia, to the south of the stadium, after initial maps they submitted in May were deemed not to solve an already existing traffic problem.

After playing at the Stadio Nereo Rocco in Trieste for a short while after the closure of their stadium, the club moved their home games to the Is Arenas during last season and have agreed to redevelop the stadium, which is situated a little to the east of the city.

The plans, which will now be submitted to the Prefecture of Cagliari, are part of agreement the Rossoblu have to use the stadium for three seasons.
