LiveraniGenoa club president Enrico Preziosi has confirmed that Fabio Liverani will be the coach of the port outfit for the 2013-14 season.

The former Italian international is a tactician at rossoblu’s youth academy and is still to test himself at the professional level.

“Liverani hasn’t signed the contract yet, but he will do soon,” Preziosi told Tele Nord.

“I chose him and I am sure of his qualities – character, technical and tactical.”

Genoa endured a tough 2012-13 season in Serie A, only avoiding relegation on the penultimate match day in a 0-0 draw against Inter Milan.

Preziosi’s decision to let David Ballardini go for the second, for no apparent reason and replace him with untested Liverani is sure to divide opinion amongst the Genoa faithful.
