Jordy Clasie - FeyenoordFeyenoord midfielder Jordy Clasie has revealed that Fiorentina tried to sign him before he opted to extend his contract with De Stadionclub.

The 21-year-old is one of Europe’s brightest young talents, and despite the interest in his services, he stated is not ready to leave his homeland quite yet.

“At the end of last season there was concrete interest in me from Fiorentina but I never thought about going to play in Florence,” he told NuSport.nl.

“I always wanted to stay at Feyenoord and I am happy they renewed my contract.

“I didn’t feel like leaving my current club because I am too young. I played less than I expected last season but I am now ready for the new season.”

Clasie made 31 Eredivisie appearances last season as Feyenoord qualified for the Europa League play-off round.
