Former AC Milan midfielder becomes Palermo coach

GattusoFormer AC Milan midfielder and 2006 World Cup winner Gennaro Gattuso has been announced as the new coach of Palermo.

The 35 year old has been linked with a managerial move to Sicily for some weeks now, and negotiated a release with Swiss club Sion so he could return to Italy as a coach.

Gattuso signed a one year deal with the option of a two year renewal, and will be presented on Friday at 12:30 CET as the new coach.

Gattuso briefly managed FC Sion from the 25th of February 2013 and was sacked on the 17th of May 2013, winning three games out of 12, drawing four and losing five.

He played for Milan for twelve seasons, appearing 335 times from 1999 to 2012.
