Kyle Lafferty - SionNew Palermo striker Kyle Lafferty has spoken of his desire to do well for the Sicilians and expressed a long time admiration for Italian football.

The 25-year-old striker who signed for the Rosanero this week, also discussed the comparisons with former Rosanero frontman Luca Toni from president Maurizio Zamparini.

“I’m happy to be here. I have always watched Italian football, as the crowds here are passionate. I will try to do well in front of them.” Lafferty told palermocalcio.it.

“Toni? I have always tried to look at the movements of the other strikers, although David Beckham has always been my idol.

“Being compared to Toni is beautiful. I thank the president for the kind words and I hope to do as well as he did.

“I will give everything for this shirt as the only important thing is the victory of the team, not my individual performance.”

After departing financially troubled Rangers, the Northern Ireland international spent the 2012-13 season at Swiss side FC Sion scoring eight times in 28 matches.
