Juan Quintero - PescaraGenoa have taken a surprise lead in the race to sign the highly rated Colombian Juan Fernando Quintero.

The Ligurian side, who just managed to escape relegation for the second straight season, is said to be close to sealing the player’s signature.

The 20-year-old had been on the radar of such clubs as Manchester United, Arsenal and Inter. However, it looks like Genoa may be ready to purchase 50% of Quintero’s contract in a co-ownership deal.

Quintero played in 17 games for the league’s worst side and contributed a goal and two assists in a team that scored a league low 27 goals.

Quintero only joined Pescara this past season from Colombian side Atlético Nacional where he played a mere 15 games before moving to Serie A.
