Andrea MandorliniAfter being linked with current Palermo coach Giuseppe Sannino, Hellas Verona have agreed to extend the contract of coach Andrea Mandorlini.

Mandorlini led the Gialloblu to automatic promotion to Serie A this season, and until this week looked destined to leave the club and take up the reigns of another promotion hopeful next term.

Mandorlini’s new contract will expire in the summer of 2014 as Hellas will play their first season in Italy’s top-flight in 11 years.

On the decision of keeping Mandorlini for next season, the club’s director Sean Sogliano expressed his delight at the coach remaining at the helm.

“Mandorlini is our choice and there is no need to say anything else, as we are continuing with him and he is under contract,” stated the director.

“Both the president and I spoke with Mandorlini and with great calm we took this decision. The coach will have the chance to prove he can do a good job in Serie A as well.

“We had a few aspects to clarify, as we wanted to know if he was happy to continue working with the club, while we considered him to be our first choice.”
