Inter defender signs for Werder Bremen

Luca Caldirola InterInter defender Luca Caldirola, has joined Bundesliga side Werder Bremen for a fee in the region of €2 million.

The Inter academy graduate signed a 4-year-contract with Bremen after being contracted to the Serie A side for 13 year..

The Azzurini captain spoke to Werder Bremen’s official website after completing his move.

“Werder Bremen is a big chance for me. When my agent told me about Bremen’s interest, I immediately said I would like to transfer to Werder.”

“The club has a great tradition. I am looking forward to the coming years.”

The former Nerazzurri defender has just returned from the European Under-21 Championships in Israel, where Italy finished as runners-up to champions Spain.

Breman manager Thomas Eichin spoke about Caldirola after the deal was announced and expressed his excitement at signing the defender.

“Caldirola is a very interesting player.”

“Despite his age, he has a lot of experience. He is captain of the U21 national team and proved his leadership qualities with his previous clubs.”

Caldirola is the second of Inter’s Italian youth defenders to leave the club this summer after Giulio Donati joined Bayer Leverkusen last week.
