Cesare Prandelli - ItaliaItaly coach Cesare Prandelli hinted at possible changes to his starting line up for the Confederations Cup match against Japan.

The Azzuri began the tournament with a 2-1 win over Olympic Gold medallists Mexico.

The ex-Fiorentina coach chose his favoured 4-3-2-1 set up against the Mexicans, some speculate that he would move to a 3-4-1-2 but it seems more likely he will only drop Ignazio Abate and Claudio Marchisio in exchange for Christian Maggio and Alberto Aquilani.

When questioned about potential changes, Prandelli maintained he hadn’t made his final decision just yet.

“It is possible there will be two, three or even four modifications, though it depends on the final training session,” he said.

The 55 year old also addressed the issue of which system will be deployed: “It is not so much an issue of fielding two strikers as setting up a team that can defend and attack.”
