Newly promoted Livorno are the latest side to show an interest in Palermo’s veteran forward Fabrizio Miccoli.
The 33-year-old former Benfica man wants one more experience in Serie A as he approaches the end of his career following the disappointment of last season’s relegation with the Rosanero.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Livorno have made a surprise bid for the striker, who managed 29 appearances and scored eight goals for the Sicilians during the 2012-13 Serie A season.
Despite the genuine desire of the Tuscan side to sign Miccoli, they must find a solution to the problems posed to them by the forward’s wages which are considerably higher than what can be afforded by a club with Livorno’s limited financial power.
The potential acquisition of Miccoli would provide Livorno with a player with considerable Serie A experience but is also expected to fuel rumours concerning the future the club’s top scorer in Serie B, Paulinho.
