Abel Hernandez - PalermoPalermo general manager Giorgio Perinetti believes that Abel Hernandez can help revive the team as they prepare for Serie B this upcoming season after being relegated.

The 22-year-old scored only one goal in 14 league appearances for the Rosanero during the 2012-2013 season, since he was out for most of the campaign with an injury. Nonetheless, he is still recognised for his growing talent and seen as an important asset to the team.

Perinetti spoke to Radio Crc about the club’s plans to keep the striker while they attempt to make a comeback to Serie A.

“He’s a great player. He’s young and will be able to revive the team, ” said the executive.

“We want to keep him with us.”

Hernandez has reportedly been targeted by many clubs since joining Palermo, including Liverpool, Inter, and Paris Saint-Germain.

“It’s not our intention to sell him and at the moment we haven’t received any concrete offers,” he continued.

“€Four million for Hernandez? The player is worth much more. He has enormous potential and room for improvement.”

The Uruguayan international himself spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport about his faith in club president Maurizio Zamparini.

“Zamparini is working well,” said Hernandez. “He is doing the right things to get us back in Serie A.”

The young forward scored four goals for his country in their recent Confederations Cup match against Tahiti and he feels it was a way to prove himself worthy of more time on the pitch.

“I have never scored four goals before in my professional career.

“In front of me are players like Cavani, Suarez and Forlan, but I showed the coach that I am ready.”
