Roma have rejected a €20 million bid from Real Madrid for their central defender Marquinhos.
The 19-year-old has previously been subject of interest from Barcelona and Premier League sides Manchester City and Chelsea.
Marquinhos is one of the crowned jewels in Giallorossi’s ranks and they plan to build a side around the former Corinthians centre back who played 26 games last season in Serie A.
With the confirmed departures of Ricardo Carvalho and likely departures of Pepe and Raul Albiol Los Merengues are in the hunt for a proven defender and may come again for the centre back.
Although Roma have rejected a bid they may do business at a higher price, possibly €30 million.
