Luigi Giorgi - AtalantaAtalanta have bought midfielder Luigi Giorgi outright from Serie B club Novara.

The 26-year-old moved to La Dea from Palermo in January this year in a co-owenership deal.

A statement on Novara’s website said on Tuesday: “Novara Calcio announce the definitive transfer of Luigi Giorgi to Atalanta.

“The club wishes the midfielder a continuation of a brilliant career and rich in satisfaction.”

Giorgi was at Novara when they were in Serie A in 2011-12 but he was then sent on loan to Siena.

The midfielder was signed by sporting director Giorgio Perinetti and coach Giuseppe Sannino at Palermo in 2012 but Sannino was then sacked after three rounds. By the time he was reinstated as coach, Giorgi had left for Atalanta.

Giorgi played 10 matches for the Rosanero last season, scoring two goals. After moving to La Dea in January this year, he played 15 matches and scored two goals there as well.
