AC Milan - Mathieu FlaminiMathieu Flamini has stated that AC Milan offered to extend his contract for another two years, but was keen on making a return to the Premier League.

The Frenchman’s contract expired this summer, and with comments that he made last week about his unhappiness with the Rossoneri who we’re reluctant to negotiate, his decision was easily made to leave as a free agent.

“Milan offered me a contract for two years but I need to take my time and make the right decision,” the  29-year-old explained to The Sun.

“I’ve been in Italy for five years, I’ve had a great time and learnt a lot. But I miss England and I want to win the Premier League.”

“It has a special place in my heart. I like the pace and the physicality of English football and I like that every game is very open.”

“I want to win trophies. I am a competitor. My biggest regret was when I was with Arsenal and we lost the Champions League final against Barcelona.”

“As well as the Premier League, I want to win the Champions League. When you are a competitor, what you want is to be successful. And to be successful, you want to win trophies.

“I’ve had some good offers but I want to take my time and decide what direction I will take.”

“What’s important is to be in a team which has a good project, good ambitions and abilities.

“I miss the Premier League but other countries are possible, too. I don’t want to close any doors.”
