Fabrizio Miccoli PalermoFormer Palermo captain Fabrizio Miccoli could be heading to Australia to play for Melbourne Victory after it was revealed he is in advanced talks with the club.

The Rosanero did not extend the player’s contract once it expired.

The end of his tenure at the club was also strained as Miccoli has been  involved in a police investigation due to his friendship with the son of a mafia boss according to reports.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the 34-year-old is now close to a move to Melbourne Victory who can match his wage demands.

The Italian international, who has made over 500 career club appearances, will hope to replicate what former Serie A legend Alessandro Del Piero has done at fellow A-League side Sydney FC.
