Mattia Perin PescaraAmid rumours that Genoa were considering a move for Palermo’s Emiliano Viviano, president Enrico Preziosi has indicated that young goalkeeper Mattia Perin will be given the chance to become first-choice keeper at the Luigi Ferraris next season.

After experienced custodian Sebastien Frey departed for Bursaspor this summer questions had been raised regarding who would take over goalkeeping duties for the Grifone and it appears the 20-year-old will get his chance after a loan spell with Pescara.

“Viviano is an important player, I had already taken half [of his contract in a co-ownership deal] two years ago, but we have Perin and want to give space to young people,” Preziosi told Sky Sport Italia.

The 65-year-old entrepreneur also discussed the possibility of Andreas Granqvist heading to AC Milan before the transfer window closes, however, despite meeting Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani for dinner denied that they had discussed a deal for the Swede.

“We have not talked about Granqvist, I just praised the moral qualities of the boy.” said Preziosi.

“Then maybe we can talk later [if he] admitted that he really interests at Milan and his coach.“
