Matias Silvestre InterWith speculation surrounding the departure of Andreas Granqvist from Genoa it has been reported that the Grifone could be interested in acquiring out of favour Inter defender Matias Silvestre as his replacement.

The 28-year-old Sweden international a potential candidate to leave the Rossoblu this summer with several Russian clubs suggested to be interested in the centre-back new coach Fabio Liverani would need to replace a player who was key to last seasons’ survival.

According to Tuttosport Genoa are now focusing on the Argentinean defender, also 28, although he has already turned down a move away from the San Siro this summer to fellow Serie A side Parma.

After joining the Nerazzurri from Palermo during the last summer transfer window the former Boca Juniors defender found his chances limited under former coach Andrea Stramaccioni and made just nine league appearances for the club.

With Liverani’s primary aim to keep the Grifone in Serie A once again the ex-Catania man could expect greater playing time at the Luigi Ferraris.
