Lazio lock up promising youngster to new contract

Lazio have reached an agreement with defender Luis Pedro Cavanda on a contract extension that will keep the youngster at the club until 2018.

The 23-year-old defender’s future was unclear as his contract was set to expire next summer amidst rumours that Sunderland were keen to bring him to England.

Sky Sport reports that the Belgian’s new contract will see him earn close to €300,000 a year until 2018.

Cavanda has been at Lazio since 2007, spending two seasons out on loan at Bari and Torino.

Last season he made 24 appearances for Lazio in all competitions.
