Andrea MandorliniHellas Verona coach Andrea Mandorlini is happy with the direction his team is headed in as the start of the new season approaches.

The Gialloblu were victorious in their recent friendly against Feyenoord on July 24, with new signing Luca Toni scoring the only goal in the match in the 1-0 victory.

Mandorlini spoke to Sky Sports after the game and admitted that his squad is on the right track, though there is always room for improvement.

“We have come a long way,” said the tactician. “We are happy to be at this point already.

“At this point the condition is not optimal, but I have seen good things.

“Our new signings? I’m very happy with them. They are working hard and are all very helpful.”

The Mastini have brought in a few new players in a bid to strengthen their squad, including defender Massimo Donati and midfielder Ezequiel Cirigliano.

Hellas Verona have been absent from Serie A for the past 11 years up but earned promotion by finishing in second place in Serie B last season.
