Fabrizio Miccoli PalermoFabrizio Miccoli has officially joined Lega Pro Prima Divisione club Lecce.

The 34-year-old forward was linked to multiple teams after his contract with Palermo expired this summer, including Australian side Melbourne Victory.

It was reported that he’s been amidst negotiations with the A-League club, but he has since chosen to play in Italy’s third tier instead.

Lecce announced the news on their official website and revealed that the deal will be finalised with a contract on Wednesday.

There are speculations that the striker could be retiring at the end of the 2013-14 season, as it’s believed that he wishes to end his career at his beloved hometown club.

Miccoli joined former team Palermo in 2007 and currently holds a number of records at the club, including most goals in all competitions, with 81 goals during his time with the Rosanero.

He scored eight goals in his 29 Serie A appearances during the 2012-13 campaign and notched eight assists.
