Liverani - GenoaNew Genoa coach Fabio Liverani has stated that the club are still searching for a winger for next season who can also take some of the goalscoring burden on their shoulders as he looks to avoid another relegation battle.

The 37-year-old coach also insisted that Alberto Gilardino has no intention of leaving the Grifone despite transfer speculation linking the Italian with a departure and believed any players leaving at this stage would be replaced immediately.

“We definitely need a winger who can also play inside and score goals,” Liverani told Tuttomercatoweb.

“Gilardino will stay here with us, he is much loved by his companions and has no intention of moving from Genoa.

“With [Juraj] Kucks and [Andreas] Granqvist, the situation is different and if they were to be sold they will be replaced immediately.”

Liverani also spoke of the potential arrival of Lazio’s veteran goalkeeper Albano Bizzarri to help fill the void left by Sebastien Frey’s transfer to Bursaspor.

He continued “Bizzarri? He is a great professional and has great experience. He might do the job.”
