Manolo Gabbiadini SampdoriaNew Sampdoria striker Manolo Gabbiadini has stated that he prefers to play as a centre-forward while insisting that he wants to improve on last season’s form.

The 21-year-old was on loan at Bologna in 2012-13 but the striker did not always feature as a striker as Alberto Gilardino was played in that position.

Despite his desire to play as a striker for the Blucerchiati, he is willing to play in any position he is asked to play in by Samp coach Delio Rossi.

“My favourite position? I like to play as a central striker but I am ready to sacrifice myself if it will be needed,” Gabbiadini said to Primocanale.

“I want to improve in comparison to last year but I am not one that makes promises, the football will do the talking.”

Gabbiadini has been getting better acquainted with his new teammates, especially his potential partners in the Sampdoria attack.

“With Eder there is an excellent understanding, but  [Gianluca] Sansone and [Nicola] Pozzi are also important and good.”
