Outspoken Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini, never shy of a controversial word or two, has hit out at Edinson Cavani’s move to Paris Saint Germain and thinks the presence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic will make him a failure there.

Cavani played for his Rosanero side before joining Napoli where he became a massive success and Zamparini believes the Swede will have a detrimental effect on ‘El Matador’ as he says he has had on another ex-Palermo man now plying his trade in the French capital and went as far as to suggest the ex-AC Milan forward should be gotten rid of.

In an interview with France Football, Zamparini blasted: “I think that to sell Ibrahimovic after the purchase of Cavani would now be the best solution for PSG because now Ibra will ruin Cavani as he did with [Javier] Pastore and I think this will prevent him from having the same goal return as he had in Naples.”

He also believes the style of football that was played by the Partenopei suited the Uruguayan hitman down to the ground and he will not be able to thrive off the same service at the Parc des Princes.

“At Napoli, the whole team played for him and he was the main man but I do not think he will receive the same number of passes and chances in Paris.”
