morgan de sanctis napoliNew Roma acquisition Morgan De Sanctis demonstrated quite some creativity in the way he said ‘goodbye’ to former club Napoli.

For the purpose, De Sanctis reserved space on the advertisement pages of the Corriere dello Sport and expressed his gratitude to the club with the following message: “What you asked of me I gave to you…and with your love you paid me back. Thanks to everybody and always ‘Forza Napoli!'”

The message was written in Napoli’s blue-and-white kit colours and accompanied by a picture of the goalkeeper, the words ‘Heart, sweat, honour’ in a large font and a giant ‘1’ (De Sanctis’ number while playing for Napoli).

For four years at the club, the 36-year-old goalkeeper played a crucial role in turning the Partenopei into a title contender once again, but decided to take his career to the Olimpico after the recent arrivals of Pepe Reina from Liverpool and Rafael from Santos.

After 175 appearances for the Azzurri, De Sanctis signed a two-year contract with Roma, where he is more likely to get playing time, especially after the departure of former Giallorossi No. 1 Maarten Stekelenburg, who moved to Fulham in the beginning of the transfer window.
