Stefano Pioli BolognaBologna coach Stefano Pioli has insisted that Alessandro Diamanti will be staying at the club.

Diamanti, who has appeared for Italy 14 times, has been linked with a move to champions Juventus this summer after a strong season with the Rossoblu last season.

“I have been reassured by the club,” Pioli told Sky Sport Italia.

“The president has been very clear on the matter.

“He is our captain and our most recognisable player – so we are welcoming him back with open arms.

“We are focused on doing well next season and have been working very hard.”

Diamanti made 34 appearances for Bologna last season, scoring seven goals and assisting a further seven.

The Rossoblu will want to hold on to the 30-year-old attacking midfielder if they are to improve on their 13th place finish last season, though interest from the Bianconeri could see them face a protracted transfer saga.

Prior to moving to Bologna, Diamanti played for a variety of clubs including Brescia, Livorno and West Ham United.
