Federico Balzaretti - RomaRoma defender Federico Balzaretti has admitted his envy toward the stadiums and playing conditions in the United States.

The Giallorossi are currently on their American summer tour and are preparing for a match against the Major League Soccer All-Stars on Wednesday night in Kansas City.

Balzaretti spoke to Roma Channel about how he hopes Italy will take an example from the United States and improve their facilities.

“We lack facilities like these in our football,” said the 31-year-old.

“Even compared to other parts of Europe, we are lacking. I hope these types of conditions arrive in Italy.

“Having a proper stadium is the base to any club, otherwise there is no future of competing with other clubs in this area.”

The Italian international then commented on his fitness and praised the MLS All-Star squad, which includes French legend Thierry Henry and fellow Italian Marco Di Vaio, who are now key players for their respective MLS teams.

“I slept well last night. This is a beautiful experience. These are prerequisites for a great workout.

“The MLS All-Stars are all great players, including some who played in Europe and for their national teams. It will truly be a great match.”
