New Roma signing Kevin Strootman has revealed how former AC Milan player Mark Van Bommel convinced him to move to Italy.
The 23-year old dutch midfielder has signed a five year contract with the capital club after his move from PSV Eindhoven.
“Mark was the man with experience of Italy,” the 23-year-old told De Telegraaf.
“He told me how great the passion of the fans was, how special the atmosphere in the stadiums was and how there was a totally different football culture.
“I will train every day with top players and get to play against the likes of Inter, Milan, Juventus and Napoli,” he continued.
“What counts for me is the number of big games I am going to play here.”
Van Bommel re-joined PSV last summer after spending 18 months with the Rossoneri and had helped them win the 2010-11 Serie A title.
