AC Milan have reported made a formal €8 million offer to Fiorentina for Adem Ljajic.
The young Serbian international is highly prized in Florence and the Viola will not want to lose him for free given his contract expires next summer.
Gazzetta dello Sport claims Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani called Fiorentina co-owner Andrea Della Valle on Friday morning to make the bid.
Della Valle is expected to discuss the situation with the 21 year-old attacker later in the afternoon.
Fiorentina are thought to be looking for a figure closer to €12m.
Ljajic moved to Italy in 2010 from Partizan Belgrade and scored 11 goals in 28 Serie A games the previous season.
